I am getting prepped to build a Log Cabin in the North GA Mtns. I want to run MOSTLY 12v throught the cabin. Can I wire the cabin with standard 12/2 wire and run 12vdc. Is there any voltage loss over solid copper opposed to braided wire?

I would like to wire the house to where if ever I went to sell the place it could easily be converted to 120vac with the changing of the plates and light bulbs and the breaker box.

I am thinking I can run everything off Gas or 12vdc except a washer and dryer and the Air Conditoning... But the house will be spray foam insulated so it will be extremely insulated so won't use to much energy on A/C anyways.

I'm no electrician, but what is the purpose of wiring your house with 12v DC instead of standard 120v AC? Is it to reduce energy consumption?

Yes, for one. Also to possibly run on Solar or Hydro power in the future. I have a large creek that will be dammed up and also I should have enough solar power if I chose to go that route. Trying to build as energy efficiant as possible

Upload some photos when the cabin is finished. Would love to see it
