The sun and stars are seemingly inexhaustible sources of energy. That energy is the result of nuclear reactions, in which matter is converted to energy. We have been able to harness that mechanism and regularly use it to generate power. Presently, nuclear energy provides for approximately 16% of the world's electricity. Unlike the stars, the nuclear reactors that we have today work on the principle of nuclear fission.

I don't know too much about the science of "nuclear reactions" and "nuclear fission", but you made a very good point, hope we could have more easiler and safer ways to generate nuclear energy.

As much as I know....nuclear energy is produced from splitting atoms, I may be wrong. Although this form of energy work, its dangerous. (correct me if i am wrong)

Nuclear power is produced by controlled (i.e., non-explosive) nuclear reactions. Commercial and utility plants currently use nuclear fission reactions to heat water to produce steam, which is then used to generate electricity.
