When the first engines were created, hemp oil was the fuel of choice by their creators. So why was it forgotten so quickly?
Here is a great article highlighting Rudolph Diesel' creation of the diesel engine, it's refinements over the past 100 years and his push for the fuel to be derived from hemp before delving into the large petro-chemical companies war on hemp.
An example of how in America sometimes innovation and efficiency take a back seat to economic and political will.

I don't know.. Maybe there's some conspiracy back in the past..

Without question. however the word conspiracy is a strong one, really it's just people in power pushing public interest in a direction that is beneficial to them. Kinda like the scare campaigns against Tesla by Edison where he killed animals by electricution to show how "dangerous" Teslas AC power was. In this case it was the realization that money can be more funneled and controlled if run on something that doesnt grow anywhere and everywhere.
That's my take on human greed. But it's 100% understandable.
I don't know.. Maybe there's some conspiracy back in the past..

i think the real reason it's illegal is because most people fear what they don't understand. the average person who doesn't know anything about marijuana thinks it's a lot more harmful than it is, so people who don't take the time to look into it (i.e. most of the country) want it to stay illegal because it's "dangerous".

Hemp based fuel, cocaine-laced cola... they were the best of times.
It really is a shame though, that something with such legitimate and proven potential is not even being considered due to an antiquated stigma pushed by big oil.

I could not agree more. It reminds when video killed the radio store.
