With the cost of electricity having increased every year for the last 20 years, the need for a more efficient, less environmentally damaging, renewable energy resource will be growing. Experts estimate that those receiving a solar energy education and entering the solar technology sector will experience unprecedented growth, even in today’s uncertain economy.

Renewables are definitely the way of the future. I think one of the most interesting new ways of creating electricity is wave power. I just saw these video for the first time today and they blew my mind. Basically it is a land based wave generation power station that uses air compression created by the waves to turn a generator. The idea seemed pretty cool in video #1, but then I watched video #2 which is a real shot of one working, and the speed at which it can get that generator moving is insane.

VIDEO#1 - Very cool overview of the system itself, which for me was the first at ever seeing one like this. I have seen the snake type ones before, but not like this.

VIDEO#2 - This is just a single shot of the actual blades/generator turning with the "breathing" of the incoming waves. I had no idea it would yield this type of power. It resembles a wind turbine on steroids or something.

That's really awesome! That second video of the actual turbine spinning is impressive. I really didn't expect it to turn with that much power and force.
