People have always been making a big deal out of recycling for many years. So how many of you out there actually do it?
Also, what types of things/materials are you able to recycle?
I like to recycle as much as I can, but one of my biggest beefs with the whole situation was regarding which materials could be recycled. We use a curb-side pickup service at home provided by our local trash company. It makes it really easy to recycle and it's quite inexpensive. But for the longest time they wouldn't accept cardboard...which always struck me as kind of odd. I always thought cardboard was one of the first things they figured out how to recycle back in the day. It kinda pissed me off that our service wouldn't take it. Luckily, things have progressed lately and they are taking more materials now, so we're recycling a lot more of our trash.
Currently, this is what our recycling service accepts:
Aluminum
Cardboard (flat, non-corrugated only)
Glass
Plastic #1
Plastic #2

I use our local curbside pick up, its ridiculously easy to do.
They take:
Plastics (#1, 2, 4 & 5)
All glass, including coloured (you don't even have to take off the labels any more)
All aluminum cans (flattening no longer required)
Tetra Packs
Cardboard (Corrugated is fine)
Paper
News print
You don't even have to wash or sort it anymore, doesn't get much easier.

This is great, I used that site to find my local recycling drop off also.
Just remember that recycle is the last word in the mantra, first Reduce, then Reuse and the last thing you do is Recycle.
Recycling takes a lot of resources and energy, so that is why we need to reduce and reuse first. Yay
great job on setting it up, WTG

Very curious to why e-waste is never listed on products to recycle?
Its one of the biggest issues in this country. Our EPA has a great program (at no additional cost) that everyone can benefit from. I will post a thread about what we do and if anyone is interested, how to contact me for more details.
Thank you all.....I think this site is a wonderful idea

Totally agree with "Just remember that recycle is the last word in the mantra, first Reduce, then Reuse and the last thing you do is Recycle"
I use curb-side pickup service.
I also bring other stuff to recycle center.
I am also doing yard composting.

In what areas is curbside recycling not available. I just amused that was standard along with garbage.

I try and recycle as often as I can. I usually am pretty good about recycling plastic bottles, cans, and card board items.

Cans don't really bring that much money in though do they? But I guess if you have a lot of people doing it then the small change can really add up huh?

Hi there,
I was wondering if anybody has any info regarding tyre recycling businesses i.e where scrap tyres can be sold on and in what form are they most valuable?
Any info would be much appreciated.
