I admire this guy for taking matters in to his one hands and wasting no time. Just wanted to find out general opinion :) what do you guys think.
Copenhagen, Denmark - Delegates at the U.N. Climate Change Conference are "running short on time" to reach agreement on a deal, U.S. President Barack Obama told them Friday.
"There is no time to waste," he said. "Now I believe it's the time for the nations and the people of the world to come behind a common purpose. We are ready to get this done today, but there has to be movement on all sides."

I really hope he can get something good to come of this. Having a bunch of guys meet in a room talking and talking, but never getting anywhere or actually doing anything, makes it nothing but old-fashioned politikin' ...and people will resent it. "Just politics as usual" they'll say. And therein lies the biggest danger of all...stagnation.
But it's such a vastly important and pivotal issue for our time. It might be quite a far-fetched idea to say it could bring about a new era of international cooperation and peace, but the fact is that climate change is a world-wide problem for all on this planet, regardless of nationality, race, religion, or creed. And it is indeed time we all come together "for a common purpose".
Easier said than done, for sure. But it needs to be done, nonetheless.

I am new here and consider myself concerned about the earth as I love the outdoors and more importantly I have two small children. I do not like the "rush" into anything. My first thought is why is anyone rushing into any new policy? We have been spewing crap into the air for centuries so a little more time to evaluate data is not going to hurt. Secondly I am alarmed by the recent snafu in england (e-mails etc...) This is concerning that "scientists" are cooking the books for a cause. This is a cardinal sin in science. Data should be reproducable so in light of this issue the data needs to be re run at the same time by several scientists around the world and if the results match then we can say we have a problem.
I am also concerned about the "religion like" movement that is going on with regaurds to the green movement. Just because you feel like you are doing good does not mean you are. We need to carefully move forward here.
I am also discusted with some of the so called green leaders. 1) Al Gore. Lives an a 10,000 square foot home that costs $2500.00 a month to heat with gas. Jet setting all over the world in a jet and how many vehicles does he have? He is heavily invested in green technology which means he can not be trusted to be unbiased. I'll be damed if I am to listen to this a hole! Even GW Bush is greener than this jerk! (GW lives in a 2400 sq ft home in Crawford TX that uses very earth freindly geothermal to heat and cool). Leonardo DiCaprio? I'm not going there. This guy brainwashes my kids on nick. Again , how big is his house? How many cars does he have?
I will follow someone who leads by example. I hope the rest of you are smart enough to look into the facts and see through the BS.
Real change starts from the individual choose your leaders carefully, and scrutinize them. They may not be who you think they are!

I forgot to mention there are some who do not believe in global warming. With some new info (English researchers) of books being cooked, suppressing info of the earth actually cooling etc... My position is.....I am not sure. There has been a lot of ice melt in Antartica and the Greenland ice sheets over the last decade which would indicate heating but there is recent data showing the earth is now cooling.
The ozone layer has recenty closed up over the south pole (good news) but why?
My opinion? I dont know. We should air on the side of caution and assume mans influence IS doing something to the environment BUT don't go crazy with it, What I mean by that is we should not go into hysteria. Look at the facts as we know them, force scientists to forward their data, reproduce it over and over to "be sure" and take action to correct the problem.
The earth does have natural cycles of heating and cooling should we assume we are in one? No.
At the very least we should want to clean the earth even if mans influence is not responsible for the earths warming.
I will say that in the 1800's there was an gigantic volcano that went ballistic in the south Pacific (Crackatoa). This volcano was on a proportion that we have not seen since. It dwarfed Mt St Hellens eruption 1000's of times over. From what I understand, this eruption was so large (super volcano) it spewed more particulate matter into the atmosphere in one day than what humanity had done in 100 years! There was snow in New England in July and Aug. that year.
The earth recovered. I think mother nature is stronger than we think.
This all being said.....we should still be green. It is our nest lets not S*@T in it!
