The Forest Service has a website which is designed to get parents and kids outdoors. They currently have a new campaign entitled "Where the Other You Lives" which is designed to make people more aware of the environment around them.

As we all know if you value something you desire to protect it and that is the goal of the new campaign. Also it'll get our kids outdoors which is very valuable as you all know, the Ad Council recently did a study that said kids spend 50% less time outdoors than they did 20 years ago.

Great website for having a little eco-friendly fun outdoors.

There's a name for this, albeit rather unofficial - Nature Deficit Disorder. Love to see that increased outdoor activity is encouraged - how strange that, despite the current "go green movement", people sometimes forget that the best way to see how you can contribute to the environment is to go outside, and assess the actual environment yourself!

Yeap 100% agreed Movenstore.

Enjoying the outdoors is the first, best step in learning how to protect the environment. The philosophy of getting outdoors in order to protect it better is a philosophy i am trying to ingrain on my children.

What are some methods you use to get outdoors more often with you kids?
