Is it really better for you though? I agree on all other points, but everything I read says its the same as fresh, and at times better if the produce has been shipped a long way.

A goog reason to buy local is that shipping products all ove rthe world has environmental impacts. Think about all the fuel that is used moving goods from one location to the next. Plus, I agree that locally grown food tastes better.

I would love to purchase fresh food or organic food and would even support my local farmers and buy local instead of frozen but honestly here in Nova Scotia Canada, we are forced to eat our own mushed up feces if we eat local food.

Recently our government officials decided it would be a great idea to clean up the Halifax harbour that had for years been receiving our sewage untreated. They would clean it up and build a treatment facility to make everything wonderful again.

Well, they did clean up the harbour and then took all the sewage sludge and sold it off to a big fertilizing company who got big bucks to haul it away. Then this company turned it into fertilizer and sold it all back to our local farmers, after they added the estrogen to the mix.

Almost immediately we saw thousands of tax dollars put into government advertisements for months telling everybody "Buy Local" Support your local farmers.

Apparently because our government cant seem to find a way to clean things up properly we are going to continue being forced to eat our own shi*&.

By the way, the treatment facility they built was another political PONZI scheme.
All of the work was hired out to an American firm (which I am not saying is a bad thing) just that number one we need good manufacturing jobs here so we can stop sending our kids out to the oilfields in Alberta and number 2 when the sh*% hit the fan and the system broke down, there was no one here that knew how to fix it.

So now here we sit, forced to eat sh%# and smell sh#% while the politicians keep raking in the taxes to pay their huge salaries so they can go off to the Great White Northern territories, kicking out the Eskimos so they can build their sanctuaries close to Monsanto's food bank and pristine water supplies they are building as the ice melts with all their political and so called rich friends.

Sadly, the only reason these people are rich is because of the money that they raked off the backs of regular citizens and now all they want to do is get rid of the regular citizens so they can keep everything to themselves.

They take our money, feed us sh#% telling us there is no way for us to change to a cleaner environment, give us no incentives to change to wind and solar and that we might as well just get used to it and prepare for the big disasters they are negotiating for 2012 with the rest of the G8 countries.

There are another at least another 126 countries that have already spent billions of dollars to change their ways and have converted to alternative energy and transportation that does not depend on fossil fuels, they are making more money than they ever did and they are getting prepared to resolve the issue of the G8 countries continuing to pollute this planet with no regard. They are to the point that if the G8 countries do not stop pushing the toxic fuels on their own they will be stopped by other means, so yes my friends, the meteor they tell you about is not a meteor but a war between the G8 countries and the rest of the world.

The only solution the G8 countries have to fight this man made Global Warming is to reduce the population. If you tell me you think conspiracies don't exist then you are telling me you weren't paying attention in history class and you still aren't paying attention today. If you need a briefing on the conspiracy to cull the population there are many sources.

When the war breaks out it will be the G8 countries defending their investments in fossil fuel (same as most recent wars) and the 126 countries will be fighting for the cause of preventing this forced extinction of human beings.

So, back to local food, well buying it in Nova Scotia is out unless I grow my own. Store bought food, frozen or otherwise is also a scary thing and you may want to watch this video to get a better understanding of what I mean....

I have formed a New Age Activist organization that is designed to fight this New Age Terrorism being forced on us. We don't waste time fighting, protesting and causing more damage, but we provid information, education and assistance by way of knowledge to anyone trying to build alternative solutions that might help get us out of this mess. We are not non profit, we do this everyday and it is our job. We ask for membership fees that gives us the support we need to keep us going. We have invested all our resources for the last five years and all we ask is for others to chip in a small membership fee for as much information as you need to get started. I have purchased a large piece of land and am going to build a Sustainable Community. There will be no grid power. It will be powered by wind and solar and generators using alternative fuels, HHO and Geet Technologies. We will grow our own food being extreemly careful of where the seeds come from until we can begin to harvest our own seeds. We will even look after our own sewage thank you very much by using our own version of the Aerobic Treatment System

Nova Scotia is so full of people that have been subjected and terrorized into remaining fossil fuel idiots (and I don't believe it is their fault) and I can't seem to find anyone who wants to get out and into a better lifestyle. I think sadly most of them will just sit here and watch their children die when it is too late.
